Autumn time is fair time for Basel! The Basel Autumn Fair is more than just an ordinary fair. This festival is the Switzerland’s largest fair and offers something for all generations: from thrills on the wild rides to culinary delights and sales stalls. The Basel Autumn Fair has a history of more than 550 years and takes place every year in October and November.

The fair extends over seven large squares & an exhibition hall in the city centre. The stalls at the Krämer- und Erlebnismarkt on St Peter’s Square will even stay open for two days longer.

Herbstmesse Locations;

  1. Barfüsserplatz
    Open Sunday–Thursday from 12:00-22:00 and Friday / Saturday from 12:00-23:00 The centrally located square welcomes fairgoers of all ages with a colourful array of rides, games and culinary delights.
  2. Münsterplatz
    Open Sunday–Thursday from 12:00-22:00 and Friday / Saturday from 12:00-23:00. Here you will find not only the popular traditional railways that our grandparents loved, but also everything your heart and stomach desires. Don’t miss the ferry wheel here, it offers a perfect view of the old city.
  3. Petersplatz
    Daily from 11:00-20:00; until November 14 (open 2 more days longer than other locations). This is a gourmet’s paradise. Guests can enjoy a variety of traditional dishes.

    This oldest location for the Herbstmesse in Kleinbasel is right next to Messeplatz and features a variety of traditional rides and food stalls for all age groups.
  7. Halle 1 at Messe Basel (Super 80s)
    Open Sunday–Thursday from 12:00-22:00 and Friday / Saturday from 12:00-23:00; open until November 5
    This site is unusual in that it is an indoor site, but still has a variety of rides for all ages. The indoor fair has its origins in the 1980s and features attractions from that era!
