Some Tips for Lisbon Gastronomy
Lisbon is a budget-friendly city for gastronomy. Especially you should not leave the country before eating Bacalhau and Pastel de Nata dessert. I share with you some places which I tried during my journey. Here are some places…
A Padaria Portuguesa
Address: Alameda Santo António dos Capuchos 6B
https://www.apadariaportuguesa.pt
This place is budget friendly and ideal for breakfast or a short break during the day. You can often see them in different areas in Lisbon.
Kruvasan 0,35 Euro Coffee 0.60 Euro Breakfast Menu 2.5 Euro Soup 1.60 Euro
Pasteis de Belem – Pastel de Nata
Address: R. de Belém 84-92, 1300-085 Lisboa, Portugal
You can not skip the Pastel de Belem when you visit Belem. There is always a huge queue in front of the patisserie. But it’s worth waiting This place started to make Pastel de Nata first for earning to earn money for the Jeronimos Monastery in Belem. After the monastery has not worked anymore, they continue as patisserie. They don’t share the receipt of Pastel de Nata, just three people know how they can make it. It’s a rule, not four or two can know. When someone dies, they start to teach to the third person, the number is always three. They sell approximately 30.000 Pastel de Nata on weekdays and 50.000 at the weekend. Nowadays you can find Pastel de Nata almost in every patisserie in Lisbon, we also try it from different places but I need to inform you that this one is the best during my journey in Lisbon

Bettina & Niccolo Carallo
Address: R. da Escola Politécnica 4, 1250-096 Lisboa, Portugal
I randomly found this friendly and cozy chocolate and coffee spot near the Botanic Garden of the university and the natural museum. It’s located in the heart of Príncipe Real, you just need to follow the smell of the cacao. It’s a family business and they made make their chocolate themselves. A variety of chocolate exists, preferably in percentages of 100%, 80% and, 75% cocoa and they have nut, ginger, orange flavor. Do they offer one piece of cholera? with your drink. You can take one coffee, enjoy and try also with your chocolate. Espresso + Chocolate 1 euro
Park Pub
Address: Tv. André Valente 4, 1200-109 Lisboa, Portugal
The entrance of the pub is from the auto park place. This must be a surprise, you can use the elevator or until the last? Then it’s time to enjoy the great view of Lisbon from the rooftop terrace.
A Ginjiha
Address: Largo São Domingos 8, 1100-201 Lisboa, Portugal
Ginja or Ginjinha is a typical Portuguese liqueur. It’s made of cherry, like a berry. The berries are fermented into brandy and the taste is slightly sweet, bitter, and very sticky. A Ginjiha is a really tiny bar, it’s located in the famous touristic area of the city center, near the Theater Nacional Dona Maria II. You can ask your Ginja for little money with or without a cherry in it. They told me that most Portuguese people prefer to have their Ginja with a cherry in the glass. Saude 😉 (cheers)
Ginja liqueur 1 Euro
Ribiera Market – Time Out Market
Address: Av. 24 de Julho 49, 1200-479 Lisboa, Portugal
This place offers you what you need for restaurants, bars, and shops. You can both find Portuguese specialties and international products tastes. Here is a good alternative for trying Bacalhua and pastéis de nata. From Manteigaria you can also see how they made make pastéis de nata. After Pasteis de Belem, this one is my favorite.
Pastéis de nata. 1 Euro
LX Factory & Lisbon Under Ground Village
Address: R. Rodrigues de Faria 103, 1300-501 Lisboa, Portugal
Lx Factory is a creative mini-city where an abandoned 19th industrial site has been turned into a cultural, gastronomic, and creative area with restored factory buildings. You can also have a look closely at the 25 April bridge from there. Even if you don’t buy any conserved fish, Comur (Conserveira de Portugal) colorful shop is worth see seeing.
